Navigate Crisis Zones: Discreet Family Exfiltration from UkraineRedpoint assisted a client’s family members to safely leave Ukraine’s Donbas region shortly after Russia’s invasion. Once out of immediate danger, Redpoint’s network of experts arranged for the legal departure of the family through a discreet border crossing. Once safely out of the country, Redpoint’s resources in Central Europe helped settle the family and prepare for travel to their ultimate location in the EU.
Travel & Country Risk Assessment: Political Kidnappings in Latin AmericaRedpoint advised a prominent client on the risks of traveling to a Latin American country following the kidnapping of several high-profile individuals. Redpoint’s in-country source network determined that the kidnappings were politically (and not financially) motivated. Given that our client had no political connections to the country, we assessed it was possible to mitigate the potential risks by limiting media reporting on their travel, arranging for discreet security, and implementing pre-arranged protocols in case of emergency.
Equity and Reputational Protection: Gulf-Based Fraud AttemptRedpoint advised a client to back out of a potential $50+M commercial real estate deal with an individual claiming to be a Gulf royal family member. Redpoint’s investigation discovered that the counterparty’s passport was fraudulent, unraveling the basis upon which the Gulf-based investor had established their bona fides. The client was able to walk away from the deal, thereby preserving their equity and professional reputation.
Family Services: Unmasking Manipulative SchemesRedpoint identified an aggressive suiter as a grifter known to target the children of successful international families. In this case, the suiter was manipulating the client’s child for information on the family’s property holdings. Redpoint helped the family block contact with the suiter, conduct a damage assessment of what information was lost, and provide situational awareness training for the child on how to answer questions about the family’s business interests.
Philanthropy Support: Exposing Deceptive DonorsRedpoint identified a potential high-value donor as having a history of manipulating foreign-based trusts to defraud a US-based higher education institution. Working in collaboration with the institution’s law firm, we advised the institution to break off contact, alert the broader philanthropic community on the donor’s activities, and contact the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
Regulatory Programs: Banking AML, Compliance, & Risk Management SuccessA $150 billion asset commercial bank engaged Redpoint to design a risk management program for a new high risk payment product offering in partnership with a successful Fintech. Redpoint helped evidence compliance with the bank’s enterprise risk management, AML/BSA, internal audit, corporate compliance, and vendor management requirements.
Global Enhanced Due Diligence: Identifying Derogatory InformationRedpoint identified previously unknown derogatory information on the principals of an Israeli cybersecurity company as part of our enhanced due diligence investigation for a New York based venture-capital firm. Based on Redpoint’s insight, the VC firm declined to invest.
International Partnerships: Contextualizing Gulf-based Access & RiskRedpoint advised a US-based private equity client on the risks associated with partnering with a Gulf-based partner. Redpoint contextualized the partner’s PEP status as a member of the country’s royal family, identified their access to the political, royal, and societal spheres of influence, and discovered previously unknown areas of underlying risk.
Company Legacy: Transferring Ownership to the Next GenerationRedpoint’s fractional CFO assisted a regional transportation company transfer ownership to the family’s second generation. Redpoint further established new banking and accounting relationships, selected a new general manager, and developed a comprehensive strategic growth plan for the business.
Global Expansion: Establishing a New Subsidiary in EuropeRedpoint's fractional CFO, COO, and General Counsel engagement with a global technology business established a new operating subsidiary in Luxembourg, facilitated the award of multiple patents, developed compliance and standard operating procedures, assisted with board and shareholder governance matters, established new banking, accounting, and law firm relationships, and assisted in sales support activities.
